We have a busy and fun schedule lined up for the beginning of Fall! Check out a brief list of what the WLT has to offer:

SEPTEMBER 20, 7 PM

Harry Ransom Lecture: Nicole Krauss

Nicole Krauss, author of Man Walks into a Room and The History of Love reads from Great House and speaks with Michener Center Director James Magnuson about her work on Tuesday, September 20, at 7 p.m. in Jessen Auditorium at The University of Texas atAustin. A book signing follows. The event is free and open to the public; donations are welcomed and support theRansomCenter’s exhibitions and programs. Seating is limited. Line forms upon arrival of the first person, and doors open 30 minutes in advance.

 

SEPTEMBER 26, 7 PM

BookPeople Double Book Launch: Ann McCutchan

Ann McCutchan, WLT’s first executive director, now professor of creative writing at the University of North Texas, is “coming home” to Book People Sunday, September 26, 7 PM, for a double book launch.  Please plan to attend, enjoy her talk, and stick around for a chat! Her new books are: Circular Breathing: Meditations From a Musical Life — a collection of personal essays first published in literary journals; one also appeared in The Best American Spiritual Writing 2007. River Music: An Atchafalaya Story — a double biography, of a place, Louisiana’s Atchafalaya River Basin, and a person, Cajun musician/sound historian Earl Robicheaux, who works to preserve the endangered region’s singular soundscape in archival recordings and music compositions.

Independent Writers Guild Conference

The Independent Writers Guild is hosting the “Treating Your Your Book Like A Business!” conference. On October 1st, Introducing new technology and services for Independently Published authors. Powerful Speakers! Powerful Stories!
