Joni Parker has been a member of the Writers’ League of Texas since 2009. The Black Elf of Seaward Isle, the first installment of her fantasy trilogy, was released in paperback December 2013. She makes her home in Irving, Texas.
Scribe: In what genre(s) do you write?
Joni Parker: Fantasy. It doesn’t matter if I try to write a mystery or thriller, it always ends up as a fantasy.
Scribe: What authors would you like to have coffee or a beer with and which beverage?
JP: I would love to have a cup of tea with Mary Stewart, author of The Hollow Hills.
Scribe: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what book would you want to have with you to keep you sane?
JP: The Hollow Hills would be good, but to keep sane, I’d really need a blank journal and a pen.
Scribe: What have you learned from your association with the Writers’ League?
JP: A lot. First I learned that there was more to writing a book than writing a book, if you want to see it published. I’ve also picked up writing tips and, most importantly, met other authors in the same boat as me.
Scribe: Where do you see your writing taking you (or you taking it) in the future?
JP: I plan to write for as long as I can. There isn’t a mandatory retirement age. It keeps me off the street, and my mind stays really active.
Scribe: Is there anything else about you that you would like to share with the world?
JP: My e-books are finally coming out in paperback.
The first one, The Black Elf of Seaward Isle has just been released and the next two are in the pipeline.
