Scribe: In what genre(s) do you write?

Amy Arndt: I write about lifestyle, parenting, step-parenting, business etiquette, and my love/hate relationship with gadgets. I dabble in short fiction.

Scribe: What authors would you like to have coffee or a beer with and which beverage?

AA: Assuming I could revive him, I’d have coffee with Raymond Carver, red wine with Arianna Huffington, and whisky with Tina Fey. I know I should have picked Dorothy Parker and Oscar Wilde, but I have my reasons.

Scribe: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what book would you want to have with you to keep you sane?

AA: Healing Anger by The Dalai Lama would be a really great choice, because I would be all kinds of angry.

Scribe: What have you learned from your association with the Writers’ League?

AA: Very little. I joined in January and then I panicked. It’s what I do. It’s just like when I was a toddler and my mother took me to the YMCA for swimming lessons. All the kids jumped in without fear and I stood outside the pool, bouncing up and down while the other parents laughed and pointed at me. I guess you could say I’m ready to jump now.

Scribe: Where do you see your writing taking you (or you taking it) in the future?

AA: For as long as I can remember, my writing goals have been pretty simple. I want to write things that make people laugh, and possibly help people re-think their views. My life’s dream is to write a book and talk about it on The Today Show, preferably with Al Roker present because for some odd reason I’m a superfan. I’m hoping the Writer’s Conference in June will help open doors to publishing my step-parenting book. Also, someone said not to stalk agents in the bathroom so now I totally want to do that.

Scribe: Is there anything else about you that you would like to share with the world?
